On the third day of Christmas what was I to suppose my true love gave me Emelyn Rose.

                                     Emelyn Rose Lake

The Twins come to the Lakes.

Sweet Emelyn Rose,

From the very beginning she has been obedient, trying to make things easier on her momma...lining up as she should in the womb, despite her brothers sideway blocking of her path.

Miss Rose (Emme, Rosie) is an ever patient old soul. She seems to know her place in the family and is peaceful and content. She trust she will be attended to and waits her turn without complaint.

She was given the middle name Rose after her two great Grandmothers (Cleone Rose Probert and Rose Lake). I was close with grandma Probert and wanted to always have reason to think of her. I saw her grace and tenderness in her older age.  I was asked by the family to spend a few nights with her at the retirement center while in college (and grandpa was away). We had some tender moments and I felt like even though she couldn't use her voice well, her spirit spoke to me.

It was said of Rose Lake that she found joy in any situation. Leslie remembers someone asking her about cleaning the dishes and she responded something like "it's lovely to be working my hands". Everything was lovely to her.

I should also mention that another dear Grandma is often called Rose, and that connection does not go unnoticed.

Our little Rosie is a helper. She sorts shoes, takes things to the trash, shows you what's in her mouth upon request and does nearly everything I ask...With a smile and look for acknowledgment.  She enjoys making others happy. For a while she let Tal do all the talking (because he would usually voice when they were ready for something: wake up, out of high chairs) but now she has put actual words to things quicker than he and has really started being able to communicate her desires.

She is a bundle of sweetness in its truest form and we are honored to have such a deep soul in our family.

We love you Emelyn
